Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE accessories starting to appear at Verizon locations

A friend just dropped some pictures of Verizon's Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE screen protector kits in our inbox, along with a note that the "products" will soon follow. This matches right up with what we heard last month at CES, so we're expecting to seem them on the shelves in very short order. Screen protectors don't usually get people excited, but we know plenty of folks have been waiting for this. There's a couple pictures after the break.

Apple announces 1 billion iTunes U downloads

Apple announced today that iTunes U, their podcast-like service that provides for educational content from universities, museums, libraries, and like-minded organizations on iTunes, has topped one billion downloads. According to Eddy Cue, Apple?s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services:

?It?s inspiring to see what educators and students of all types are doing with iTunes U. With the incredible content offered on iTunes U, students can learn like never before?there are now iTunes U courses with more than 250,000 students enrolled in them, which is a phenomenal shift in the way we teach and learn.?

Here's the content breakdown Apple provided:

More than 1,200 universities and colleges, and 1,200 K-12 schools and districts host over 2,500 public and thousands of private courses encompassing the arts, sciences, health and medicine, education, business and more. Leading universities including Duke, Yale, Cambridge, MIT and Oxford continue to extend their reach by enrolling more than 100,000 students in single iTunes U courses, with Stanford University and The Open University each surpassing 60 million content downloads.

Apple also reported that 60% of iTunes U downloads were outside the U.S., and that iTunes U course creation was now available in over 30 countries, and accessed in over 155 countries.

I've watched a lot of iOS-releated courses on iTunes U, along with many of the inspirational addresses. It's amazing stuff, and an incredible recourse. Congrats to Apple and all the educators who've made it possible.

Now you can export PDFs with Day One journal for iPhone and iPad

Day One for iPhone and iPad, the popular journaling app by Bloom Built, has been updated with the ability to export your journal entries as a PDF that can then be sent to iBooks, Dropbox, your printer, and more.

To create a PDF, you go to Settings > Export to PDF. You can then choose a date range and if you want to only include entries containing specific tags. The created PDF looks just like how your entries look in the app. To share to other apps, just tap the Share button in the upper right hand corner. Any apps with PDF support that you have installed will appear on the list, including print.

Some other new features of Day One include a new reminder sound, Sanchez as a font option, improved header and HTML styling, and historical weather has increased from 3 days to 30 days.

This update of Day One has also added a faster startup time, improved Dropbox sync for large journals, refactored and improved sound effects, and reorganized Settings.

In the update notes of Day One for iPhone and iPad, they have also promised to update the Mac version soon with location, weather, tags, and more.

Hulu part-owners Disney, News Corp. reportedly discuss buying each other out

The new owner of Hulu could turn out to be... one of the existing owners. After an aborted sale attempt in 2011, new rumors suggest current part owners Disney and News Corp are talking over the possibility of one buying the other's stake out. The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg both tag people with knowledge of the situation as their sources, indicating a disagreement over the video streaming website's business model -- it announced $695 million in revenue last year -- as a reason for the talks.

Reportedly News Corp. prefers a subscription based model, while Disney sees an advertising-focused approach as best. Both of them own about a third of the site, while Comcast / NBC Universal owns most of the remaining third but can't vote, and according to the rumors would remain as a minority investor if a buyout took place. Also playing into this is CEO Jason Kilar's announcement he will leave the company by the end of Q1, so hopefully any decision on its future are made by the time a new leader is in place.

You can now rent Adobe Photoshop for $35 per month, CS 5.5 available soon

Rejoice! No longer will you have to fork over $700 for a Photoshop CS5 license! Adobe has unveiled a new subscription scheme where you can rent the entire Creative Suite, or individual packages, by the month, or for an entire year.

Adobe Photoshop can be yours for $35 per month if you agree to rent it for 12 months, or $49 per month if you require its services for a shorter period. Dreamweaver can be had for even cheaper, at just $19 per month. The entire Master Collection is still rather expensive, though, at $125 per month.

Today, Adobe also ushered in the release of Creative Suite 5.5, and simultaneously upped its release cycle from 18 months to 24 months. This means, if you rent Photoshop for two years, it's actually the same cost as buying it outright. There's no rent-to-own option, though -- so you wouldn't have access to the cheaper upgrade price once Creative Suite 6 rolls around next year. Still, if you need access to Photoshop, After Effects or Premiere for a one-time project, the new rental scheme could be exactly what you're looking for.

In other news, Adobe has announced that it will be launching three rather exciting iPad apps that work in conjunction with Photoshop: Eazel, Nav, and Color Lava. Eazel lets you five-finger paint on your iPad, and export the result into Photoshop; Nav acts as some kind of workspace, brush and menu extension, and the hopefully named Color Lava is a paint mixing palette. The apps are expected to appear in the App Store in the next 30 days.

Microsoft brings Photosynth to Windows Phone 8, touts new camera integration and controls

It certainly took a little longer than Photosynth fanatics had hoped, but Microsoft's highly-rated application is available on Windows Phone 8 at long last. Just as we'd heard, Photosynth will seamlessly integrate with the WP8 Lens, allowing users to easily launch the panorama features without having to leave the main shooting interface. Google's Blogger platform adds five new HTML5 Dynamic Views

Google, as part of its ongoing and much-needed overhaul of its popular Blogger platform, has just enabled five dynamic, HTML5ish, AJAXy 'Dynamic Views'. There's a video introducing the new layouts after the break.

The five new views provide fresh and interesting ways to explore your favorite Blogger blogs. The Mosaic view, for example, creates a wall of thumbnails -- click one, and it zooms to fill the screen; click it again and it minimizes. Flipcard is similar to Mosaic, but not quite as eclectic. Sidebar, Timeslide and Snapshot round off the new views, with each one obviously targeted at different types of content, from photo blogs, to text-only philosophy blogs, and everything in between.

For now, you have to visit a Blogger blog and add /view to the URL to enable the new Dynamic Views. If you own a Blogger blog, you can disable the new views -- and really, why weren't they disabled by default?

If feedback is positive -- which we're sure it will be -- these Dynamic Views will soon be enabled by default. You'll also be able to edit the views in much the same way as current Blogger templates.
