Fierr is a Firefox add-on (compatible up to 4.0b8pre) that replaces the default "Unable to connect" page with a more beautiful, functional page.
As Ghacks reports, Fierr adds several buttons to the default page:
- Back takes you to the previous page (assuming there is one).
- Reload starts a periodic reloading of the page; it's like "redial" for the page - it keeps trying to load it again and again (every 10 seconds).
- Search googles the domain name. That's a great feature for mistyped domains. After hitting Search, Google immediately spotted the error in the domain that I had typed and suggested the right one with "Did you mean ...."
And of course, the most noticeable thing that Fierr does is replace the bland background with a huge Firefox logo so that even the people sitting over at the other side of the coffee shop can clearly see what your alternative browser of choice is.
