OPPO launches the R819 for Europe and the US with an interesting side-order

Android Central

The unimaginative name hides the true secret of OPPO's mid-ranger which will have a stock Jelly Bean option available

OPPO may not be the first OEM you think of when looking for a new Android smartphone, but their latest unveiling may at least make you look twice. The R819 is a solid new mid-range device from the folks who brought you the Find 5, and it comes with a rather interesting side dish; the option of a stock Android ROM. That's right, OPPO is giving its customers a choice of their own stock ROM, their new Color ROM when it launches, or plain old, honest-to-goodness Google fresh Android.

The R819 will come to market running Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, housed over a set of respectible hardware specs. We're looking at a 4.7-inch 720p display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage. Round the back there's an 8MP f/2.0 Sony Exmor shooter, with a 2MP camera round the front, all powered by a not-so-massive 2000mAh battery. And, as is so often the case with Chinese devices, there will be the option to use dual SIM cards as well.

And the price for all this? The OPPO R819 will cost $349/£229/€269. A very reasonable asking price for what we're getting, especially considering that stock Android option as well. Pre-orders are being accepted at the OPPO Style website from now, with a shipping date estimated for early September.
